Music - Week 24

Jazz Night at the Ellington

John XXIII College's annual Jazz Night at the Ellington will be held on the night of Monday 19 August. Always one of the most popular concerts at the College, the night will feature performances by the Swing Band, Senior Voices, Barbershop, Saxophone Ensembles and selected ATAR soloists and ensembles. Tickets are always in high demand for this concert and are available via the following link: http://www.ellingtonjazz.com.au/event/john-xxiii-college-jazz-night-3/ .

Students performing are required to arrive at 5:30pm, in uniform, ready to set up and soundcheck. Doors open to the public at 6:30pm, for a 7:00pm concert.

For parents and guests in attendance, the Ellington is a fully licensed venue. We look forward to a fabulous night of entertainment and look forward to seeing you there!

Catholic Performing Arts

The Primary Singers and Wanju Voices will be representing the College at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival over the next two weeks. Both choirs are performing in the Sacred Choral Primary Section on Wednesday 21 August at St Benedict’s Church, Applecross (11:30am-12:45pm session) and the Primary Choral Section on the Wednesday 28 August at the Vasto Club, Balcatta (9:30-10:45am session). The students have been working hard throughout the year to prepare for these events. This is a very exciting opportunity for our students to perform for other schools in different venues as students learn a great deal not only from performing themselves, but by watching others. Family and friends are welcome to attend these performances. For further information, please contact the Music Department.

Congratulations to the Retro Rock Band, Alex Henderson and Holly Denton for being awarded Certificates of Excellence in the Catholic Performing Arts Festival and, to the Year 9 Rock Band for their Certificate of Merit. Well done!

Performance Uniform Sizing

Trousers for Performance Uniforms are now ready to be sized, for any students who have not yet done so. Please visit Ms Gratton in the Music Office early next week.
