Sport Information

Rugby – we have had a number of students get selected for State rugby selections lately. See the separate report for more details.

Swimming State final

Layla Mahfouz did very well and did our school proud one last time! She has made the State finals every year, consistently finishing on the podium, especially in 2022 when she won 3 State titles. We are very proud of her achievements over the 6yrs of her schooling.

She competed in 5 events and placed in four of those events and narrowly missed in the 50 free. Final results:

  • 200 Freestyle – 2nd place – 2:12.66
  • 50 Butterfly – 1st place – 30.92
  • 50 Freestyle – 4th place – 29.05
  • 50 Backstroke – 3rd place – 34.62
  • 400 Freestyle – 3rd place – 4:48.03

Team Sports

Volleyball  -  Western Region

Senior Girls - Defeated Point Cook and Rosehill but lost in a close 3 setter to Gilson College.

Senior Boys - the boys had a tough day being outplayed by Rosehill, Altona and Gilson Colleges in their pool round.

Volleyball news - it is little consolation for the intermediate girls volleyball team who were beaten by Braybrook in the Region final that went to a very tight 3rd set that could have gone either way in that set to know that Braybrook went on to come runner up in the State final - we knew we had a good team and this supports that view - oh so close!!!

Soccer - Division

Senior Girls- defeated Melton Christian College 2-2 (3-1 on penalties). Excellent win as we only had 8 players in the game. They now go to Region.

Senior Boys had a strange day. Drew with eventual winner Staughton in an excellent match, drew with Kurunjang but lost to Melton CC after totally dominating the game but just could not find the goal

Yr 7 Boys - BIG effort by our boys playing with 8 players for the first 2 games defeating Heathdale 4-0 and Staughton 2-0. The arrival of a couple more players for the final helped them. In an engrossing final with scores tied at 1-1 with penalties looking likely, a sudden burst of energy mixed with some brilliant team play resulted in 2 flashy goals in the last 5 mins to win the game 3-1. Off the Region level now.

Yr 8 boys – drew with Kurunjang and Sunbury Downs , but lost to Sunbury.

AFL - Division

Senior Football - an entertaining day enjoyed by all. We lost to Staughton1-2 to 7-5 and also found Bacchus Marsh too strong 2-2 to 5-10.

Other levels – it was quite a shock to find that we could not get enough students to play in any other boys or girls levels, despite even combining year levels in order to get more numbers and to make a stronger team.

Netball – Division

Yr 8 Girls- def Bacchus Marsh 17-4 and Kurunjang 25-2 but were beaten by a very strong Gisborne team in the final.

Yr 7 Girls - unfortunately losing one of our best due to illness left a big hole in the team. We def Bacchus Marsh 25 -13 but lost a very close game when Sunbury got a few very late goals to break a deadlock 15-21.

Cross Country – Division

We took a very small team to the Division Cross Country in Gisborne. The runners all did very well with 12 qualifying for the Region level 4ext week. Jayde Young, 16yrs girls, was the highest placed finishing 3rd.

Basketball – Seniors – Division

Senior Girls – def Sunbury 27-13, def Staughton 54-9 and went into the Division final against Kurunjang who we defeated 37-27. It was an impressive effort by the girls who now proceed to the Region finals next term.

Senior Boys – lost to Sunbury 29-27 that deflated the team. They could not recover mentally and lost to Bacchus Marsh 21-43, then defeated Kurunjang 41-26.

Entries and Trainings

Students need to sign up to be considered for team selections on a Compass post via the INSIGHTS tab. This gives us an indication whether we have the interested numbers to enter a team. If students fail to sign up then we have to assume that there is little interest and that team will not be entered.

Trainings will most likely occur on Mondays and Fridays afterschool 3.15pm-4.15pm. Some Thursdays may also need to be introduced in the middle terms due to the number of teams expected to enter.

General Sport Excursion Reminders

  • All consent forms must be returned like every other excursion to the front office WITH the payment by the due date on the form.
  • No student will be allowed to bring the consent form on the day and/or bring the money on the day.
  • No CONSENT form - No MONEY –  not returned by DUE date = No GO = get left behind = unhappy team and coach
  • If your family qualify for the Camps and Excursions fund provided by the Govt. you need to collect a form from the General Office. This helps you pay for all camps and excursions, but it must be registered by June. You can only access the fund after your form has been processed.
