News from Careers


Term 2 has been extremely busy in the Careers Room with may events organised for students to explore their interests, future study and employment opportunities.

 

Year 11 and 12 students were invited to the Melton Careers Expo at Tabcorp Park. Selected Year 10 students had the chance to explore VET programs that are delivered both at Melton SC and other local secondary schools. Year 10 students welcomed Deakin MODS to their classrooms to explore Uni Myths in readiness for Waurn Ponds Campus tour on either 20 or 22 June. A guest speaker from ACU attended a Year 11 VCE Assembly to provide information about the Uni Step Up program that is available for students in July and September school holidays. Year 9 students have participated in 1:1 interviews with external career practitioners to unpack the results of their Morrisby profiling in readiness for Year 10 subject selection. Finally selected Year 11 and VCE Vocational Majors have completed the Job Camp program which was held on site. In readiness for future job applications, students completed the following qualifications:

  • Skill Development for Job Readiness
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol & VGCCC RSA Certificate
  • Provide First Aid
  • Use Hygienic practises for Food Safety + Coffee Theory  
  • Prepare and serve espresso coffee (Practical)
  • Prepare and serve Non-Alcoholics Beverages

Students in VCE Vocational Major have also completed Structured Work Placement or Work Experience in related VET programs or areas of interest. Thank you to the following employers for their continued support to host our students:

The ACA Step Up program provides these students with a guaranteed offer to study Bachelor of Business, Sport/Exercise Science, or Nursing/Paramedicine in 2024.
