Student success in literature competitions

Throughout the year, MSJ students have participated in a number of fabulous literature competitions run by Hobsons Bay libraries and the State Library of Victoria. Warmest congratulations to Stephanie Heaney, Rhiannon Todd, and Nithya Nettar on their success.

Stephanie's recipe for chocolate protein balls was selected to appear in Hobsons Bay's self-published cookbook Life on a Plate. Stephanie also had the opportunity to sit for a professional photograph.

Rhiannon won first place in the Years 7-9 division in the Council's illustration competition Drawn by the Bay. Rhiannon submitted a painting that was based on the book Where the Wild Things Are. Rhiannon received a cash prize, a copy of If Life was like a Circle in which her painting was published, as well as an art session with award-winning author and illustrator Elise Hurst. Nithya received 20 novels after casting a winning vote on the novels long listed for the State Library's Inky Awards for youth literature.

Well done to all of those who participated in these competitions. The LRC looks forward to sharing more exciting opportunities with you in 2018!
