Principal's Post

Dear Families,

Thank you to the many parents who came along to our working bee on Saturday morning. The school looks great thanks to the many tasks completed, including; cleaning the spouting (and downpipes from tennis balls), spreading of mulch, cleaning out the bike shed, sorting some lost property, cleaning leaves from the quadrangle and of course cooking snags on the BBQ.

Confirmation this Saturday Afternoon

We wish our Year Six students who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday afternoon at 3.15pm all the best. Our prayers are with you.

Lost Property - mainly jackets

We will be having a blitz on students who leave their jackets lying around the playground. Students will be given a small reminder at playtimes if their jackets frequently appear in lost property.

Year Five Camp to Sovereign Hill

Our Year Five camp to Sovereign Hill was a huge success. Students dressing up at the costume school and participating in life as it was back in the 1850s provides the most authentic learning one could wish for.

Watching students pan for gold and actually find some was a personal highlight for me!

Please read the attached reflection by some of our Year Five students.

Concert Production

Preparation for our whole school concert production is under way and students will be spending additional time rehearsing for their level item. The students will have a whole school rehearsal at Crossways in East Burwood on Tuesday 29 August and then perform on both evenings, Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 August. Ticket sales commence this Wednesday at 4pm via TryBooking. An email with the link will be sent out on Wednesday via Operoo.

Class teachers will also be communicating specific costume, prop and makeup information with parents throughout the next week, if not already.

2024 Enrolments at St James

We are expecting that all current families/students in Years Prep - Five will be returning to St James next year. If your family/child will not be returning next year, please contact the school office as we currently have waiting lists for many levels across the school.

Baby Boom at St James

Our staff baby boom continues with Tess Odgers, one of our Prep teachers announcing that she is also pregnant. Tess joining Molly Masters and Jess Moffatt as mothers to be. Congratulations Tess who hopes to keep teaching until the end of November.

Centre Road Street Parking Bays

A reminder that the Centre Road Parking Bays located at the front of St James have restricted parking times before and after school. Keeping to these times supports traffic flow and minimises congestion, and most importantly ensures the safety of all.

MACSIS

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS) will be conducted during 28 August – 15 September 2023. Please find attached letter explaining the value of this survey for our school and community.
