Westall Sports Roundup

Term Two has been jam-packed with sporting opportunities and successful results as every year level represented the Westall Secondary College with pride. The term started with our champion Year 7 boys and girls volleyball teams who had previously won their Kingston division, heading to the Southern Metro Region finals. Our girls' team managed to win whilst the boys narrowly missed out, coming a close second. Our Year 7 girls team now progresses to the State finals later this year!

Cross Country was a major event this term with students competing for their house at a school level. This year Lawson took home the house trophy; well done to all involved. Following this, Westall entered over 50 students to compete at the Kingston Cross Country Carnival and brought home some impressive results. Well done to Bron Jennings who finished within the top 15 and progressed to the Regional Final. Congratulations Bron!

This term, Westall also entered 6 teams into the Volleyball Victoria One Day Cup against the biggest volleyball-playing schools in the state. All students did an amazing job, representing Westall with pride. A big congratulations go to the Year 7 girls team, who took out the tournament and the boys who came second. The Year 9 girls team also had an impressive result winning the Year 10 division two category, competing above their age group.

There were many more sporting opportunities this term, some of which include our Year 7 and 8 weekly sporting teams, who consistently perform excellently. Currently, both our Year 8 badminton teams are undefeated with one game remaining in the season. A number of girls, from Year 7-10, participated in a weekly Rugby Victoria lunchtime clinic gaining a good deal of experience and skills. Our senior and intermediate sporting teams also experienced a range of successful results. This was highlighted by the senior girls' badminton team moving through to the regional final to be played early in Term 3.
