Careers Program Term 2

We have had a very busy start to Term 2 with Industry Links excursions to WB Hunters for our Year 10 Industry and Enterprise students, Leocata’s Transport in Tatura with our Year 12 VCAL class and visits to our schools by the Australian Defence Force, Deakin University and the University of Melbourne.

We also had four students commence a term long Trade Taster program with these students attending GOTAFE every Friday “tasting” a range of different courses over the term from Automotive through to Baking.

We have lots more visits from further education providers throughout this term including Academy of Interactive Education, RMIT and La Trobe University just to name a few.

We have excursions to GV Health and Melbourne University School of Rural Health and the Shepparton Law Courts. 

Always lots happening in Careers so pop in and see us to find out how you can be involved.  And who knows, maybe on the day you visit, we might have our four legged little helper, Miss Ruby in the office for you to say hi to.  Ruby is coming in one day a week and visiting classes to assist our students overcome fears they may have about dogs that would prevent them from entering a workplace or further education provider. So far, she has assisted three of our Year 12 students overcome their fears, they now love spending time with Ruby and have the confidence to enter into work places where there may be an assistance dog.

Universities coming to Shepparton.

Universities will be holding a range of meet and greet opportunities in Shepparton over the next two months and this is a great opportunity for students and families to talk to university representatives without having to travel to Melbourne to do so.

July School Holiday Experience Programs

Many further education institutions and universities provide experience days for students during the Term 2 school holidays. These programs provide a wonderful opportunity for students to have a hands on, workshop experience in an area they may interested in studying post secondary school.
