Swimming Carnival

Our annual swimming carnival was held Friday 1 March.  We had a fantastic show of sportsmanship and participation in both swimming and novelty events.

There were 5 records broken on the day which shows the quality of our swimmers at Cowra High School.

  • Samson Miller broke the 12 years 50m Freestyle with a time of 43.94
  • Zoe Browne broke two records:  Girls 14 years 50m Breaststroke – 38.75 and the Girls 14 years 50m Butterfly – 35.16
  • Finn Ryan also broke two records:  Boys 16 years 50m Backstroke – 31.83 and the Boys 16 years 50m Butterfly 29.63

Joining in the fun and excitement of the day, students swam a total of 4008 laps of the pool in the swim throughs.  Other novelty events were the popular belly flop competition and the raft race.  Canteen vouchers were awarded participants throughout the day.  Congratulations to Zac Olbourne, Henry Anderson, Phoebe Smith, Blake Williams, Caitlyn Boswell, Nicola Carter, Ginger Oliver, Amelia Clements, Lillee Felton, Zoe Browne, Michelle Woods, Lucy Pattingale and Samuel Frazer.

CHS Opens Girls Netball Knockout

A team of Cowra High students competed in Orange.  Our girls played against Blayney first up and narrowly lost.  Our second and third games were very convincing wins against Orange High (2) and Canobolas High School.  We also had 4 girls trial for Western, Alannah Knight, Bree Moodie, Zara McKenzie and Lucy Pattingale. Congratulations to all the girls for their conduct and  sportsmanship.  A big thankyou to Lillee Felton who umpired for our team on the day also.

CHS Open Girls Cricket Knockout

Our Open Cricket team put on a great display of sportsmanship and skill against Wellington High School on Monday 4 March.  Our girls scored an impressive 71 runs in the first innings.  Unfortunately, Wellington were very quick to chase our score and were victorious over our team.  The teacher from Wellington congratulated our girls on their excellent conduct and sportsmanship, always supporting each over in the field, so well done Cowra High School!

A big thank you to Lewis McFarland and Darcy Callaghan for assisting with umpiring and scoring on the day.
