Grade 5 Camp
ALEXANDRA ADVENTURE RESORT
On Wednesday the 10th of May, the grade 5s went to Alexandra Adventure Resort. We buddied up for the 2-hour bus ride. Luckily we had the music to keep us company and it was a blast!
When we got to our destination, everybody sat down for morning tea. After that, the moment we had all been waiting for: our cabin assignments! We soon made ourselves at home. After that we had our already packed lunch and gobbled it up. We met the staff and learned some housekeeping rules. Then we went off to our cabins, had some free time and some of us used this time to get ready for our first activity!
The activities that we rotated over the 3 days were raft building, the giant swing, the high ropes course, the low ropes initiative courses, GaGa Ball, the flying fox, the leap of faith, archery and laser sports. We also participated in some night-time activities. The first night we had a night walk followed by a pyjama disco party with lots of singing and glow sticks. We ended up going to bed around 9:30 p.m. On the second night we sat down and watched Scooby Doo: The Case of the Luna Ghost. These activities were all extremely fun and the students had a blast. Some of the teachers gave a few activities a go!
Some of the delicious meals we devoured were:
For breakfast on the first day scrambled eggs and cereal and the second day it was pancakes and cereal. For lunch we had baked potatoes, ham and grated cheese. For dinner the first night we had Bolognese and pasta and the second night we had a delicious chicken xchnitzel with a variety of fruit and veggies. For dessert on the first night, we had a scrumptious chocolate mousse and on the second night we had vanilla ice cream with caramel, strawberry or chocolate syrup.
On the first day, we were requested to write a lunch order for the last day on the bus. On the last day, we stopped at a park/reserve to have our orders.
Then off we went back to Valkstone to see our families who we hadn’t seen in 3 days!!!
