The students find inspiration for their writing from a lot of events and things around the school, and today Carter the Cobberdog was pretty excited to hear that he was the main character in a book!
Yaakov from Grade 2 wrote and illustrated an entire book about Carter and Mrs Dawson -- it was amazing! Carter showed what a good listener he is when Yaakov read the book to him and showed him the wonderful illustrations.
Thanks, Yaakov!
One of our great fundraising events here at school is the annual Mothers Day Stall. The children love the independence of bringing small amounts of money and purchasing a small gift for their Mums or Special People, and I know that the gifts are always gratefully received by the Mums and Carers.
Thank you to the wonderful Admin team here at Valkstone for organising the gifts and arranging the helpers on the day. Thanks also to the families who gave up their time to help out on the day.
Everyone's wonderful help raised an amazing $2,008 dollars for the school!
Our second-hand unform stall allows people to purchase uniforms that others may have grown out of or not need anymore. It is a more financially feasible option than buying 'brand new' and is also good for the environment as clothing does not go to waste.
Thanksou to Emma Reed and her amazing band of helpers, we were successful in raising $539 for the school, and helped a large number of families find great quality, affordable school uniform pieces!
Reminder that we are having a Curriculum Day on MONDAY 5th JUNE, which our staff is using for assessment and reporting. No students are at school on this day, however Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) will be available to registered families on this date.
