WEAR IT PURPLE DAY

On Tuesday the 3rd of September we held an event in honour of Wear it Purple Day. The essence of this day is to ensure that queer young people know they are loved, valued and supported.

Staff were asked to don their favourite purple clothing or accessories to show their support for students. During recess a staff morning tea was held, including an amazing purple rainbow cake that everyone enjoyed! Staff had the opportunity to view a special video made by SAGA (Sexuality And Gender Alliance) members that incorporated ways in which we can work together to continue the great work we do at Footscray City College in ensuring all members of our school community feel safe, loved and included.

SAGA members, Maribyrnong Youth Services and teacher Rachel Beagley worked hard with the wellbeing team to put on a fantastic lunchtime event in the forum. There was fun music, a dress-up station, a photo booth and a fashion parade that both staff and students participated in. It was excellent to see the enthusiasm and creativity!

Four students from Braybrook Secondary College attended our lunch time event and were impressed with the warm welcome and inclusive spirit of our school community.

Thank you to everyone who participated by Wearing it Purple!
