Mini Minors

Students learning a string instrument as part of the Year 3 Strings Program come together each Tuesday from Term 2 to form the Mini Minors – the Year 3 orchestra. This ensemble provides string students the opportunity to enjoy playing with their friends and develop ensemble and musicianship skills, as they prepare for performances at Music Eisteddfod, Grandparents’ Picnic and the Christmas Concert. Mini Minors commences for all Year 3 String students this Tuesday 2 May, in the Osborne Room from 8:00am – 8:30am.

Year 5 Band

Students learning a wind, brass or percussion instrument as part of the Year 5 Band Program come together each Wednesday from Term 2 to form the Year 5 Band. This ensemble provides students the opportunity to enjoy playing with their friends and develop ensemble and musicianship skills, as they prepare for performances at Music Eisteddfod, Grandparents’ Picnic and the Christmas Concert. Year 5 Band commences for all Year 5 Band students this Wednesday 3 May, in the Performing Arts Centre from 8:00am – 8:30am.

Alumni Concert

John XXIII College student Kyle Garces (Class 2017) will be performing in a fundraising afternoon concert on Sunday 7 May. Held at the beautiful Montgomery Hall, this concert will feature young opera stars performing songs and arias during a provided afternoon tea.

Australian Combined Schools Music Festival - Billeting

We are seeking further expressions of interest for families to host interstate students as part of the Australian Combined Schools Music Festival. Billeting involves hosting an upper school student/s for four nights at the end of Term 2, with some transport to and from Methodist Ladies College on Stirling Highway.

Please note that some instruments may have a waiting list based on tutor availability.

Please note that some Music Department information and policies have been updated for 2023. All families are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the policies, particularly regarding advice of student sickness/absence from lessons.
