Around The Primary

Dear Families
Welcome back to Term 2! It has been terrific to see the students return after the holidays refreshed and excited for a new term and it has been wonderful to introduce them to our new College Principal, Mr Daniel Mahon.
Yesterday our Years 3-12 students attended an ANZAC Day service. The students were dignified and respectful throughout the service. We were so fortunate to have a secondary parent, CPO Nick, come and speak to our community about the meaning and significance of Anzac Day.
Later this term the Year 6 classes and a team of staff will be heading to Canberra and will visit the Australian War Memorial. It is a huge undertaking to get all our Year 6's organised and prepared for this educational experience. The program in Canberra will concentrate on our Nation's history, culture, heritage, and democracy. This camp is also a wonderful opportunity for our students to practice their social skills and independent living skills. We would like to acknowledge the Australian Government's generosity in providing a subsidy per student under the Parliament & Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program towards the travel expenses incurred.
House Day
Next Friday, 5 May we are celebrating Primary House Day. This involves the students participating in activities to learn about the House founders of John XXIII College and to commemorate the House to which they will belong throughout their time at the College. Please refer to the below PDF for further information.
Mother's Day Mass
On Thursday 11 May we are celebrating a Mass to thank God for the gift of our mothers and mother-figures. This Mass will begin at 7:30am in the St Louis Sports Centre. It is hoped all Mums will be able to come along to celebrate Mass with their children. Please book tickets for adults attending with this link (students do not require a ticket). https://www.trybooking.com/CHBIS
The staff and I look forward to engaging the students in learning opportunities for the term ahead.
Kind regards
Antoinette De Pinto
Head of Primary
