Notice of Student Departure
We recognise that for a variety of reasons, some students may not be returning to us in 2021. Whether you anticipate a possible relocation, your child is hoping to secure an apprenticeship, or any other reason, we ask that you keep us up-to-date with your plans. It is a requirement for anyone leaving the College to provide a Term's notice - this helps us in our planning, and less than a term's notice does incur a financial penalty equivalent to a term's fees. So early notification is best for everyone!
With so many families keen to secure a place at Cornerstone next year, and waiting lists existing in many cases, your forewarning also allows us to help others with their planning as well.
If you require a Notification of Departure Form, please contact our administration team and they will ensure you have the correct documents provided.
Primary Book Fair
The Book Fair is on! During Week 8 (8th - 11th September), the Book Fair will be unfolding. The process for purchases will change this year, with students taking their wishlist home, and purchases to be made online by parents. Students will then deliver their paid order information back to school and collect their books.
We will give clear instructions closer to the time, but for now, start thinking about Book Character Parade ideas to help us make the 2020 parade the best one yet!
Dunsborough's Book Character Parade is scheduled for Thursday the 10th of September, and Busselton Book Character Parade is on the 11th of September. Secondary students will also be participating in the Busselton parade.

School Photos
It's that time of the year to be planning for our annual school photo day.
As families are aware, our planning for several group events was impacted by the uncertainty caused by COVID. As such our Campus Photo-days had to be rescheduled for later on in this Term.
Please diarise the following dates:
Busselton Campus - Tuesday, 15 September 2020.
Dunsborough Campus - Wednesday, 16 September 2020.
Please be mindful of these dates when booking Specialist Appointments, as student late arrivals and early departures may impact class photos. The photo envelopes for online ordering will be sent out to families approximately a week before the event.
Please contact the front office, if you have any questions regarding this.
Parent Connect is Back!
Did you know that our Parent Connect gatherings are back? Keep an eye out on the 'What's Coming Up' section to ensure you don't miss out. The next meetings are happening in week 7. Mr Maynard would love to have you join him.
Canteen Update
At the end of last term the College conducted an online survey to gather information on the the usage and experience of the canteen service. There was a good response with useful feedback received. Below is a summary of some the key observations:
- The majority of respondents use the canteen one day per week.
- Although there are some more popular items, there is a wide cross section of the canteen menu regularly ordered.
- In response to the question of items you would like to see removed form the menu, about 10% of the respondents indicated they would like lollies/treats removed, however there were also several respondents indicating that these items are bought. As a compromise in response to these results, the College has decided that it will only make these items available one day per week from the canteen.
- There were five questions collecting a rating related to the variety/choices, quality, service and cost of the canteen service. The average rating for all of the categories was 3 or above out of 4.
Thank you for your feedback on the canteen, and for your support of this service.
No Standing in Waratah Court
It has come to our attention that some parents are parking at the top of the cul-de-sac in Waratah Court - which is a no-standing zone.
Can you please ensure that you do NOT park in this space, as doing so prevents the use of the turn-around space for other parents.
Thanks for your help!
College values
A current staff project designed to map how we approach our Bible classes from Early Learning through to Year 12 has had several additional outcomes. The project is still ongoing, but it also has led to the identification of a set of College values. Linked to our College mission of education for Christ, character and community, the values sit under three headings and come with their own virtues and character traits:
Christ - wisdom (discernment, prayerfulness, understanding) and truth (justice, respect, honesty)
Character - grace (compassion, mercy, forgiveness) and integrity (faithfulness, humility, sincerity)
Community - purpose (service, calling, responsibility) and hope (joy, peace, confidence)
This work continues in discussion at a staff level and we would value any feedback from parents. Please send any feedback by email to admin@cornerstone.education.
