Where are they now?
With over three decades of students travelling through our classrooms, there are many who have gone on to have interesting and impactful careers.
Jozef Meyer (Class of 2015) is an honors student at Australian National University's Fenner School Of Environment and Society. He is looking at the impact of longicorn beetle feeding and host finding behaviour in this dieback event. Jozef shares a love for the high country and is a keen alpinist with a strong drive to learn more about our high country and how we can better manage it.
Jozef is looking at the role of the wood-boring insect attacking the snow gums. By understanding the way this insect selects host trees we may be able to determine what makes the trees vulnerable. Describing the beetle, its life cycle and how it interacts with snow gums is an important part of developing a strategy to manage dieback.
