The Principal's Pen

Student engagement in on-campus co-curricular activities has a positive effect on student outcomes. This is a statement that could well have been lifted from one of many research papers on student success and well-being. The indicators are related to not only academic results (a worthy goal), but also well-being in adulthood and prosocial behaviours and attitudes, like volunteering. This powerfully reinforces the foundation of how we approach daily life at Cornerstone. Not only do our students learn in classrooms, but they also have the opportunity to step outside (often literally) the normal learning areas and participate in multidisciplinary activities that engage the whole person and often serve others at the same time.

So, when you see stories of innovative classroom-based activities alongside activities that are a bit harder to categorise, we are working on this engagement. Our Christian values and mission are also tied directly to this, woven into how we approach each day.
