Green Team News

With less than three weeks until spring, the Green Team had plenty of work to do in Brendan’s Garden to prepare the garden beds for planting soon.

Here is a list of the work the team completed: 

Task 1 - We cleared out the old plant foliage in the garden beds and also some weeds. 

Task 2 - We turned over the soil in each garden bed to loosen and aerate the soil.

Task 3 - Mrs Coggin spread fertiliser in each garden bed.

Task 4 - We covered each garden box with sugar cane mulch.

The team also had fun harvesting potatoes that had multiplied in abundance in one garden box. There were potatoes of all shapes and sizes and the students were so excited to find them. The photos attached below show the happy faces.

The last job for the team was to plant pumpkin seeds in small pots. The seeds were collected from the pumpkins we harvested last term and then dried out. Each child planted their own little pot filled with potting mix and several pumpkin seeds and then watered it carefully. We now have to wait patiently for them to grow, so we can plant them in the garden boxes in term 4.
