CHRISTMAS APPEAL FOR THE VINNIES
As a lead up to Christmas, we will again be supporting the annual Christmas Appeal for St Vinnies. Below is a list of the items we would like the families to support us with.
Collection dates will be in Week 7 and 8
(14th- 25th November).
If you have more than one child and buying different items for each class, you may prefer to buy a gift card.
To uphold the dignity of those receiving the hamper, we ask that all food items are not due to expire for at least six months. It’s also important to remember that your hamper must contain non-perishable food items.
Altar Servers Ministry
Our Cluster Parishes are looking for new altar servers. Recruitment is open for those who have received their Confirmation and First Eucharist and are willing to serve in the Church. Expressions of interest are most welcome. Please contact Fr DJ via email (dj.suguitan@sandhurst.catholic.org.au) or phone the Parish Office at 5443 4400.
Each Friday a class will be joining the parishioners for Mass rather than gathering for a Unit Mass once a semester.
This will help connect our school with the parish.
Your classroom teacher will let you know when your child's class is rostered on to attend mass and you are more than welcome to join us.
Masses: Saturdays at 6.00pm,
Sundays at 9.00am.
Baptisms and Weddings: by arrangement
Special Timetables for Christmas, Holy Week, Easter and other major festivals:
The Cathedral has regular Anointing of the Sick Masses and other special Masses.
For timetables for Christmas, Holy Week and Easter, special events, and information on exhibitions and recitals see Sunday Bulletin.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC) who Have Reached Catechetical Age
The Sacred Heart Cathedral Cluster of Parishes invites children aged 7+ and are interested in becoming Catholic to enrol in our RCIC Program. This program is “intended for children, not baptised as infants, who have attained the use of reason and are of catechetical age (7 years old and over). They seek Christian initiation either at the direction of their parents or guardians or, with parental permission, on their own initiative.” (RCIA, 306)
We had 8 candidates who have gone through the program this year (2022); some already baptised and some awaiting Baptism. The next RCIC will begin on the week of the 6th February 2023 and will run until the end of March. It consists of four fortnightly in-person meetings and four fortnightly at-home sessions.
We are looking to celebrate their Baptism on the weekend of 29th/30th April 2023 at any of the following Masses:
If you are interested, please ring the Parish Office at 03 5443 4400 or email the Cathedral Office: cathedral@cdos.org.au or Fr DJ: dj.suguitan@sandhurst.catholic.org.au.
