Endeavour House News

Term Four, a term of basketball, cricket, rowing, instruments, dance concerts, tutoring and hopefully some warmer weather.   I look forward to my last term in Endeavour with this gorgeous group of teenagers.

We said farewell in Week One to Ms Lauren Holder who on completing her teaching degree decided to head to Queensland for the term. The party plan was for pizza dinner at the beach, however the weather did not comply so we had pizza and a movie in Endeavour. We wish Lauren all the very best for her future endeavours and hope to see her back in boarding again.  Lauren was always enthusiastic and active and encouraged our boarders to keep moving and keep smiling.

At the end of Week Five our Year Nine students move to Breaksea House, they are mostly excited and a little bit nervous about the move to Senior boarding to prepare for next year, we will miss Rif McNeil-Hanna, Eilidh Kershaw, Sophie Harris, Joy Blurton, Chloe Climie, Amy Medway, Mary Somerscales and Emmeline Cunningham very much. We wish them all the best in the move to Breaksea and their future boarding years.  We will miss seeing Rif’s amazing drawings, Joy’s helpful and compassionate nature, Mary’s can do and give everything a go attitude, Eilidh’s competitive nature, Amy’s baking supper at least once a week, Emmeline’s dry sense of humour, Sophie’s support of anyone who needs some kindness and Chloe’s bouncy personality.  They have been a delight to get to know over the past three years and are a lovely group of thoughtful young people.

Halloween

Mrs Scott and Mrs Freeman kept the Endeavour boarders busy over the weekend with Halloween craft and cooking.  They enjoyed baking cakes to look like spiders and painting trick or treat bags.

This week Mrs Freeman, our nurses, Mrs Liz Cosh and Ms Rebecca Davies and I attended a talk at the Town Hall by Karen Young, a psychologist who specialises in anxiety in children and teens. Her talk on Anxiety during adolescence and strengthening teens against anxiety was very informative. She has also written books and has other resources on the topic.  If you are interested in her information, she has a website that you can access her expertise through, it has lots of great tip and hints to help anxious teens. Karen's website can be found here.

October birthdays were celebrated by Mackirra Williams in the school holidays and Katelin Woithe, happy birthday! To start off November we say happy birthday to Caitlin Hooper and Ashlyn Evans who both celebrate their birthdays this week.
