Eclipse House News

Term Four has begun with a focus on legacy. In Week One, I asked the Eclipse boarders what their legacy may be? It provided a lot of conversation and thought-provoking discussions. Immediately, the boys mentioned sporting stars such as Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, and Michael Clark. They were highlighted for their on court/field success, and what they left behind in the form of records and accomplishments. It has proved a challenging exercise for many as it makes them reflect on the impact they have in the boarding community, family life and Albany community. I look forward to sharing with you, their responses in upcoming Buzz publications.

This term we have had both Year Ten and Eleven camp expeditions. A valuable time to spend in the outdoors and unplug from the connected world of school and boarding life. I congratulate all Eclipse boarders for their organisation, resilience and willingness to get out of their comfort zone.

Farewell Alex

Alex Norrish joined the boarding community in Year Eight. He has made many positive friendships and been a great addition to the Eclipse boarding house. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours. Alex has accepted an apprenticeship at Monty's Leap as an apprentice chef. Congratulations Alex!

Recreation

Weekends in Eclipse have continued to be active. Recently Eclipse tested their skills at ten pin bowling. Their true competitive nature comes out leading to an enjoyable evening with plenty of laughs and celebrations.

Bike riding is proving to be a great activity to get outdoors and build connection amongst year groups. Thank you to Mr Sam Forward who has led these expeditions to Bayonet Head pump track, Lower King store and the surrounds.

I am pleased to announce that this week, work begins on a basketball court outside Eclipse. It has been possible with thanks to Ms Vanessa Bromhead spearheading the discussions. I also want to thank Mr Gary Cross and his team for their tireless work in getting the project off the ground. I anticipate the court getting a lot of use throughout the remainder of the term and years moving forward.

Surf Rescue Course

On 19 November there is an opportunity for all Years Ten and Eleven boarders to complete a certificate in Surf Rescue. This will take place at Denmark Surf Life Saving Club. It is a valuable skill to have and is also a great addition to have on their CVs moving forward. Please get in touch with HOBH if you require any further information. We aim to finalise numbers by the end of next week from both Eclipse and Breaksea Houses.

Recreation is continuing to evolve and we hope to provide some more adventurous and fun filled recreation options soon. A letter and Cognito form for all Senior boarders will be sent out soon.

Birthdays

This term we have celebrated birthdays with Kevin Sibosado and Michael Watson.  Koby Hams has been on camp in Rottnest this week for his birthday. Joe Hawke and Hamish Murphy will both celebrate their birthdays this weekend.  Many happy returns to all.

As always, please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
