Performing Arts - Winter Showcase
The Winter Showcase was an excellent, well attended event that displayed the musical talents of many students within our school community. Including Amelia Strait, Tom Hughes, John Worland, Jen Babic, Rhiannon Weightman, Bodhi Joy, Stella Morisi, Sam Stoneman, the accidentals (Stage band), and many more. The student music leaders (Jen Babic and Amelia Strait) also did a wonderful job of announcing performances. It was great to see so many friends, family and staff in the audience. The students really appreciated the support.
A huge amount of time and effort goes into organising and preparing students for such an event, on behalf of the Arts/Technology KLA I’d like to thank Libby Fowkes, Graeme Strachan and the Instrumental Music Teachers Sarah Hirst, Sam McIver, Megan Waddington & Alistair Lethlean for all of their hard work - we’re very fortunate to have such a dedicated team of performing arts staff! Also to the students who worked so hard to make it an enjoyable event.
If you couldn’t make it on this occasion (and even if you did), be sure to mark the
‘Rock n Roll Freak Out!’ on the 13th October in your calendar. We’ll see you there!
Excursions
Archie Prize (Year 7)
Inspired by the Archibald Prize our year 7 art students produced fantastic portraits of famous people that they look up to. The arts team selected and displayed a shortlist of these portraits for the Archie Prize - A people’s choice award voted for by members of the school community. We’d like to congratulate Abby Green for being voted the winner!
Arts Week
We brought term 2 to a close with a promotion of creativity and collaboration by celebrating Arts Week. A range of performing and visual arts activities were run, including a lunchtime musical performance, SingStar battle, homegroup tasks, ‘Seasons’ themed Student Art Competition and Staff Exhibition. Students and staff produced wonderful entries that have been displayed since then in the Integrated Learning Centre. Our competition winners are pictured below and we thank all those that participated.
Kind Regards,
