Lent

As we continue on the journey of Lent, preparing our hearts for the salvation of Easter,  we focus on the Catholic Traditions of the prayer, fasting and almsgiving as we reflect on Pope Francis' words.

Year 6 Leaders

As part of their Year 6 leadership training, our Year 6's attended a special leadership day at Our Lady of the Sacred heart College alongside year 6 leaders from other local schools who share our charism, St. Gabriel's, St Martins and Immaculate Heart of Mary. The students learned more about our OLSH charism, and got to meet new people sharing the experience.

Holi

As a welcoming Catholic School, who embrace all our faith and culture communities within our school, we learned all about the festival of Holi during Heart Learning from Gurnoor, Avraj, Fateh and Saharsh.

It was wonderful to speak to Gurnoor and Avraj's mum as she taught me that Holi is a festival held by both Hindu and Sikh communities to celebrate the triumph of good over evil, of divine love and as is usually celebrated in the month of March, in India, it coincides and therefore celebrates the welcoming of spring after winter. It is also know as 'the festival of colour' with people meeting in the streets and joyously spreading colourful dry paint at each other followed by the cleaning up and then a wonderful feast.

Although the children were tempted, we did not throw dry paint or chalk over one another but were led wonderfully by the Year 6 leaders to create artwork using many coloured chalk in celebration of Holi.

If your family celebrated Holi, we wish you peace, love and every happiness.

If your faith or culture community is celebrating a special festival or event please do not hesitate to let me know so we can share this knowledge together as we join, learn and grow together.

Yours in Love, Peace and Learning
