Remembrance Day Ceremonies

On Sunday, 11th November, our new college leaders represented the school at the Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Shepparton and Mooroopna cenotaphs. Our captains in Hafza Bakhiet and Pat Jacobson attended the Shepparton ceremony and our vice-captains in Ella Kerr and Brodie Poole attended the Mooroopna ceremony. Hafza, Brodie and Ella also led the commemoration of Remembrance Day at school on Friday, 9th November, in the front courtyard. (Pat was busy sitting a Year 12 exam). This ceremony is always well accepted and respected by our student body who recognise the importance of honouring those who fought in conflicts around the world. This year was a special event as it was the 100th anniversary of the Armistice. Part of our ceremony includes the laying of ceramic poppies which were made by teachers and students four years ago. This has become an integral part of our own commemoration.

Reporting

By now you will have checked XUNO for the latest SPA reports as well as seeing progressive online comments from our teachers. We are now commencing our end of semester reporting for students in Years 7 to 11. We are still very open to your responses to our current reporting system. Feel free to contact the school to speak to one of the Assistant Principals, especially if you are experiencing any difficulties or believe the system can be improved.

Year 12 Orientation Classes

Following on from Year 11 exams this week, our 2019 Year 12 cohort will be commencing their studies in orientation classes next week. In this time, they will be provided with work to complete that will ensure a positive start to the new year and as such, it is vital that all students attend. Students involved in VCAL must attend on Friday 23rd November. A barbeque will be enjoyed by all at lunchtime that day in the SLC courtyard.

Orientation Day for Year 6 students – Tuesday 11th December (no Year 7 classes)

This transition process has been underway for some time now, and we have recently begun visiting our feeder Primary Schools and meeting the current Year 6 students.  An information evening for the Year 6 students and their parents will be held on Monday, 10th December commencing at 7pm in the Visy Centre. The Orientation Day will be held on Tuesday, 11th December.

As the Year 7 teachers will be taking these classes on Orientation Day, our current Year 7 students are not required to attend on Tuesday December 6th.

Activities Program

On Monday, 17th December and Tuesday, 18th December, the school runs an activities program for students in Years 7, 8 and 9. The activities program is designed to give students experiences that they may not otherwise get so we encourage all parents to get your children involved in this program. Thanks for your support.
