Year 7 Visit to Mount Erin Heritage Centre and Erin Earth

Year 7 students are currently engaged in their first unit of study, Initiation and Belonging. They have been learning about Initiation ceremonies from around the world as well as the Christian Sacraments of Initiation.

During Week 5 all Year 7 visited the Mount Erin Heritage Centre to learn about the rich history of Catholic Education in the Wagga Diocese. The centre is full of memorabilia including photos, items from the past and even a Habit that Sr Barbara Webber spoke about wearing up until the 1970’s. A highlight for students was visiting the Mount Erin Chapel and listening to stories from Sr Barbara.

Erin Earth is located next to the Heritage Centre and the visit was a wonderful opportunity to experience sustainable living and ecology at its best. The group was very lucky to have Sr Carmel Wallis (accompanied by her very popular dog Gus) teach about caring for our environment. Another highlight was learning about permaculture and stewardship.
