VENTILATION UNITS IN SCHOOLS

As you may have heard the Department announced that schools would receive air purifiers to filter classroom air and minimize the risk of covid spread. We have not yet had any further notification from the department regarding how many units we will be allocated, or when they will arrive. Across the state, more than 50,000 units are to be manufactured and delivered to schools, so it is not surprising that it may take some time before these units arrive in Castlemaine.
In the interim period, schools have been asked to do what they can to maximize air exchange in classrooms. This basically comes down to opening windows and doors to increase fresh air in classrooms. Obviously, issues arise when the air outside is either very hot or very cold and that does mean running air conditioners or heaters with open doors and windows. Please do not think our staff are being careless if you note this happening. We are conscious this is not ideal practice. It is a temporary measure to try to balance air exchange and a comfortable work environment in the classroom.
