2.30 pm DISMISSAL ON FRIDAY 17TH DEC

Dismissal time on Friday 17th December is 2.30 pm for students, with the exception of Bus Travellers and After School Care students. These students will board their buses from 1.30 pm. Please be aware bus travellers will therefore arrive at their destinations two hours earlier than usual.

WHY DIFFERENT DISMISSAL TIMES FOR BUS TRAVELLERS?

At the end of each term, schools dismiss students at the earlier time of 2.30 pm. On the last day of the school year, the Department does conditionally permit schools to dismiss at 1.30 pm. This triggers the school bus service to start collecting bus travellers from this time. 

The Shire Council however has informed schools that school crossing supervisors are not available for many of the town's school crossings at these times. Some schools have therefore decided to man crossings using school staff. After discussions with the Shire and School Crossings Victoria, I have been advised school staff are not qualified or legally able to supervise school crossings. This is not a practise that is in the safe interests of our children and teachers, and so we will finish at 2.30 pm to ensure crossing supervisors can get all our children safely home for the holidays.
