Rugby Update

Congratulations to Nelson Solo and Philip Telea who represented MSC in the U18 NRL National Championships. Philip was selected as the captain and Nelson played front row. Both boys played exceptionally well and enjoyed the experience playing against schools from all over Australia. Nelson was awarded “Man of the Match” honours for the first game. MSC would like to wish both boys all the best for their future Rugby careers.

Congratulations to Lester Tuitea, Poe Ah Ki and Sam Fangatua who all represented Rugby Victoria in the Under 18 Rugby Vic teams. All 3 students played very well and represented MSC to the best of their ability. We wish all boys the best with their future endeavours.

Congratulations to Kara Fuaava and Abel Esera-Saluni who have been selected to represent the Under 12 NRL Victorian State Team at the national championships next week. We would like to congratulate both students and wish them all the best for the upcoming tournament.

Kara Fuaava is a very busy young man who has been selected in the U12 Victorian State Touch team. A week after he returns from Townsville, he will be jet setting to another national championship to represent Victoria at the National Touch championships. Congratulations Kara and good luck with your tournament.

MSC will be competing in the Rebel Shield again in 2023. Unfortunately the Academy Cup Under 18 tournament has been cancelled, but MSC will take on The Grange on 2 August. Parents and Community members are invited, a canteen will be operating thanks to the support of the Melton Warriors Rugby Union Club. We would also like to thank the Melton Warriors for the use of their facilities for this event, which they have been kind enough to allow us to use. The Under 16 Girls’ team kick off at 2:10pm Wednesday, 2 August with the Under 16 Boys (3:10pm), Under 18 Girls (4:10pm) and Under 18 Boys (5:10pm) matches to follow. MSC would love to see a massive home crowd of teachers, students, parents and other members of the community come down and support our school during the first round of competition. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Damian Paranihi from AWA rugby for his help and support with getting our students ready for the Rebel Shield.

The Rebel Shield will run every Wednesday for the rest of Term, please remember to sign your consent forms via the Compass App.
