General Service Training

During the recent holidays, several cadets from 414 SQN attended a GST, General Service Training (camp), whether that be in week one or two. Before going on the camp, we both weren’t sure what to expect but I had heard from other cadets that had previously been on GST that it was a really fun experience.

While the bus ride down did take 3 hours, the camp was so much fun. We got to stay at a RAAF base and meet so many new people from other squadrons all over Victoria/ 4 wing. We also did so many activities over the course of the camp. During the day we went to many different places around the base to experience flying simulators and museums about the many different parts about the AAFC’s history.

For me (Eloise) my favourite part was probably meeting heaps of new people and stand down hours were the most fun as we got to socialise and meet cadets from other flights and have fun together. Some cadets didn’t like the idea of a week-long camp, but we both encourage more cadets to go next time, it was so much fun and we both made so many new friends. We’re so glad that we went on GST and hopefully sometime in the near future, we both hope to go on GST again.
