Cultural Connection Day
During Term 4, 2021 NASCA in conjunction with South West Rocks Figtree Descendants Aboriginal Corporation held a Cultural Connection Day. Our Year 7 NASCA students enjoyed a beautiful day learning about culture and our local elder Aunty Cheryl gave the Welcome to Country in language.
To start the day off KHS staff and students enjoyed Aunty Cheryl’s homemade lemon myrtle damper. We got to experience a range of different activities, including weaving, sand art, native flower arrangements (to give to a teacher for gratitude and being thankful), sea life conservation and knowledge of our local area from Aunty Nancy (who really knows about sea turtles). We were very lucky to be greeted by a pod of BADARRS and also some amazing DHAWARRS (dolphin & turtle, respectively in Dunghutti).
