Urban Harvest Community Group
This week Urban Harvest’s Year 11 group continued their work at Lalor Community Gardens.
We have planted our first winter crop with the view to producing winter vegetables we can donate to a local food share and our school team that cook and prepare meals for the Whittlesea Food Collective.
Students learnt valuable teamwork, planning and organisational skills through this initiative whilst also gaining valuable knowledge of how to prepare garden beds and plant vegetables.
Our students also joined the Epping Bunnings team to assist the implementation of new planter boxes that members of Lalor Community Gardens will use. Our students were very helpful in ensuring these planter boxes will be ready for gardeners at the community gardens to use.
Many of the gardeners are elderly and rely on young, socially aware, and driven people like our students, to help them use the garden space.
A big thank you to Joey, Joshua, Alana, Claudia, Hadi, Malakhi who were a terrific help on the day.
