From the Head of Sport

It is hard to believe that the end of the football and rugby season is one week away with the final round in our “pool” scheduled for this weekend. For the football and rugby programs, this Saturday will see a lot of teams playing to finish at the top of their pool and a chance to play in the “Grand Final” for their competition. This new format for 2020 is an exciting part of the season and we know that all boys are looking forward to finishing well.

We continually mention how fortunate we are that our students are actually playing sport and with the injury rate across the College it may actually be a good thing that the season is so short!

As we approach the end of another season we will be ramping things up with our track & field preparations and also moving quickly into a very short preparation for our rugby league carnivals. The draw for rugby league is not finalised until Monday next week at an AIC meeting. Following this we will release information.

Please check the relevant sections in this newsletter for further information on each sport.

TRACK & FIELD - First AIC competition meet this week.

The first AIC meet is on this Thursday afternoon and evening at the State Athletics Facility. Due to COVID restrictions no parents are allowed to attend, so all boys will be required to travel to and from the venue via bus. Please see the event schedule and general information in the Track and Field section.

RUGBY LEAGUE

There is an AIC meeting on this Monday, September 7, to finalise the rugby league draw for our upcoming gala day and 2-day tournament. From this meeting we will release information regarding trials and our selections process. Please keep in mind that this will be more difficult than usual due to the quick transition between seasons. We will select only from boys involved in Term 2 sport, particularly rugby union.

Kind regards,

David Miles
