Manresa Retreat

The Year 12 Students attended their Manresa Retreat from 30 March-1 April. The activities on Manresa are organised to facilitate introspection and appreciation. Students spent time reflecting upon themselves, their families, their unique stories, their relationship with God and their future. We believe that the students have returned with a renewed sense of self and with a broader perspective on life and relationships. Students formed bonds outside of their regular and comfortable friendship circles and enjoyed spending time with teachers in a very different environment from the classroom. It is our hope that each student experienced moments and made memories that will accompany them on their journey through life.

Winter Northern Associated Schools (NAS) Trials

Our Winter NAS Trials commenced this week for all students. Thank you to our dedicated coaches for assisting with these trials. All students are to be commended for their punctuality and behaviour at each trial so far.

Students are asked to meet in the pavilion at the start of your trial in PE uniform. All students will register at the start of the trial. As there are several trials on at the same time, we ask students to register their second preference at their preferred trial. 

All Year 7/8s will play their NAS competitions on Tuesday with our Year 9/10s playing on Wednesday afternoons commencing Week 4. Our senior teams will train once a week in the lead up to the One Day Carnival scheduled for Wednesday 23 June.

Winter NAS Trial Schedule

Interhouse Cross-Country Carnival

Our Interhouse Cross-Country Carnival will take place on Friday 30 April. Due to the construction taking place at the College, the course has been marked on the College Ovals. 

Each year group will run during a specific period throughout the day.

Race Times

Students will have permission to leave P1, P3 and P5 early to make their race. 

Cut off times and distances

Year 7 & 8 Boys and Girls 

Distance = 3km

Girls = 22mins

Boys = 20mins

Year 9 – 12 Boys and Girls

Distance = 4km

Girls = 25mins

Boys = 23mins

Race Information

• PE Uniform with house shirt may be worn for the day
• Students to warm up themselves in their Homerooms (guided by their Homeroom teacher)
• Girls to start first
• Boys to start 2 minutes after
• Split timers will be used to time the girls and boys (separately)
• As students cross the line, they will be handed a place card that will match up with their time on the printout.
• These place cards will be taken by students to the results tent.
• A siren will be sounded for the cut off time, as boys are starting two mins after the girls the cut of siren will apply for both and students will make their way back to assembly point.
• All those who make it within the cut off times will receive house points.
• Medallions for our champions will be awarded at the conclusion of each race under the marquee at the finish line.
• Spectators are welcome.

School Sport WA Cross-Country Carnival

Congratulations to all the students selected to represent John XXIII College at the 2021 All Schools SSWA Cross-Country Carnival on Thursday 29 April. Selected students are asked to meet in the St Louis Sports Centre at 8:30am ready for departure to UWA Sports Park. 

This Cross-Country competition is open to all Government and Non-Government school students. The competition is the platform for selection into the SSWA Interstate Cross-Country team which competes in the School Sport Australia Cross-Country Championships in Term 3 of the year.

In 2019, John XXIII College were the overall champions of this event. We look forward to trying to defend this title next Thursday. All selected students are encouraged to attend the College training session on Tuesday from 7:00-8:00am in the lead up the carnival day.
