St Anne's students a swimming success

Division Swimming Carnival

With the outdoor pool at Aquamoves back in service, the Goulburn Murray Division was recently able to conduct its representative swimming carnival. Seventeen St Anne’s College students competed across several events and age groups, with several participants experiencing individual and team success.

In a mighty effort, Alick Jarvis raced in five events, including the gruelling 200 metre freestyle and the 4 x 50 metre individual medley. With four first and one second placing he took out the Men’s 17 Year Old Age Champion. Elizabeth Jarvis also competed in several events and was the overall runner-up for her age group. She was also a member of the victorious Women’s 4 x 50 metre 14 Year Old freestyle relay team. Five of our students will now progress to the Hume Region Carnival to be held at Wodonga Waves on Friday, March 17. Congratulations to Alick, Elizabeth, Isabel, Ruby and Maddi and best wishes as they go on to represent our college and also our district at the Hume Carnival.

Intermediate and Senior Summer Sports

Around 50 of our students recently participated in a variety of sports at the Intermediate and Senior Summer Sports day. There was an abundance of talent on display as we competed in lawn bowls, tennis, table tennis and volleyball. With the incentive of taking out bragging rights over other district colleges, enthusiasm and determination was high even if the skills were a little sketchy! Our next major sporting event will be cross country to be held in May. There will be a school-based competition in the lead-up to selecting students for the GMDSSA Division run.
