ANZAC Day Vocal Ensemble

On Friday 29 April the Frankston High School Vocal Ensemble performed to staff and students for the Anzac Day assemblies.  Their performance of ‘Shackleton’ written by Paul Jarman, was beautifully delivered in three-part harmony and featuring some soloists.  The song tells of Shackleton and his team’s mission of exploration and survival to the  Antarctic, on the ship Endurance. After such hardship, the men returned to Australia only to find that WW1 was raging.  Many men enlisted to serve and within weeks, two of the crew members had lost their life.

Mayor Visit

On Monday 4 April, the Student Leadership Council (SLC) had the privilege of meeting Frankston City Council’s Mayor, Nathan Conroy.  He provided us with insight as to what the council is currently doing, what they are planning to do in the future as well as different people who work for the council.  Such as the lollipop ladies!

After Mr. Conroy spoke, we were able to ask him questions, such as “what is [his] favorite part of being the Mayor".  To which he replied. “Being from overseas I know the process of becoming an Australian citizen, and now that I am Mayor, I can help other people to become Australian citizens.”

Overall, it was a great experience for the SLC as well as myself and I’m so glad that I got to be a part of it.
