Work Education At Edendale Farm

Over the past month we have hosted some visits from a group of work education students from Concord School's Senior campus in Bundoora.

The group of 8 students supported by their teachers and Edendale staff have assisted with some much needed chores.

Here is Dakota helping to keep our amphitheatre area tidy by doing some raking and sweeping.

HOSPITALITY KITCHEN OPERATIONS: Certificate 2

VET: KANGAN BROADMEADOWS

Students have enjoyed a fantastic year at TAFE making the most amazing items of food (and learning lots of skills)!

We had Pete for the barista unit of work in term 1 and changed to Burnie for the rest of the year. They have both been very supportive of our students and their needs.  Student s learned about OH & S, cleaning, hygiene, knife handling and sharpening, knife skills, specific food cuts, food preparation, food storage and a variety of other hospitality skills and knowledge.

They also had a chance to participate in the Universal Children’s Day at the Broadmeadows Basketball stadium. We handed out wraps, fruit and water to everyone who attended. It provided another aspect of hospitality for us to experience. See the pictures below with Burnie and the students.

Food made include: marinated chicken wings, mussels in garlic butter, bruschetta,  pasta carbonara, burgers, minestrone soup, a variety of sandwiches, breads, poached eggs, Thai green curry, donuts (Concord teachers’ favourite, which we had to bring back to school for them!), steamed chocolate pudding, fish and chips, chicken parmigiana, arancini, pepper steak, roast vegetables and so many more.

Vic Health Basketball Tournament

On Wednesday 2nd November students from Secondary 9/10 and 11/12 participated in the basketball tournament with other Specialist Schools from across the Region.

All teams worked very well together and displayed great sportsmanship. Our boys’ teams came 3rd and 4th and the girls’ team walked away with the gold medal.

All students should be very proud of themselves.

Thank you to all staff that attended and helped make the day a success.
