Upper Primary

PSP

This term, PSP went to Camp Munyung. It was a fun-filled camp with lots of exciting activities. Luckily the weather was on our side and we were able to enjoy every minute.

The students went on an 18m high giant swing and went zipping down the flying fox. They mastered the art of archery, cooked some delicious sweet and savoury damper and searched for shells and crabs at the beach.

But the most memorable activity of all was the tube slides at the Enchanted Maze. What a day!!!

PJT

On Friday I had the pleasure of attending the Watsonia RSL, Armistice Day ceremony with Elia Elia, Chirs Norman and Elia’s parents. Elia had been awarded the RSL’s Remembrance Day Scholarship award. We were invited to attend the RSL ceremony that day for Elia to receive his award.

Elia did a fantastic job of representing himself, his parents and the school. Elia lay a wreath at the base of the memorial as a sign of respect to the soldiers who lost their lives fighting for this country in wars.

Congratulations Elia on not only your award but also how you presented yourself at this very special occasion.

Gymnastics Elective

Upper Primary has had a wonderful time at Gymnastics this term. Each Wednesday afternoon the students get on the Rosa bus to Mill Park Pit Gym. The students are greeted by their favourite teacher Sue who has the gym set up and ready for some tumbles and tricks. Various warm up activities are played including poison ball and scarecrow tiggy.

There are lots of equipment that is used every week, from bars, to beams, trampolines and horses. The most popular one is definitely the foam pit, which sees the students jump in, swing in off ropes, or jump in off boards. Students have learnt how to do cartwheels and handstands. Time always seems to go quickly as everyone is having so much fun! By the end students are left feeling tired and are ever so quiet on the bus back to school.

Swimming Program

PFC, PAY and PKO students have loved attending Reservoir Swimming Pool each Friday this term for the swimming program. Students develop their swimming and water safety skills and what it means to be safe in, on and around the water. We have been impressed by some of their skills and abilities in the water. Hopefully they can show some off to you over summer!

Occupational Therapy

This term, Jenna (our OT) has been working with most of the classrooms in Upper Primary teaching handwriting with an OT twist! We have been using sensory strategies to assist with learning letter recognition, letter formation and sounds, all while giving our bodies what they need through touch and movement! A term filled with shaving cream, paint, playdough, masking tape, chalk, jumping, skipping and hopping!
