Sayonara

Sayonara to our Fujimi Exchange group and thank you to our host families

The Fujimi International Exchange has been two weeks of engaging, sharing and an interactive experience here at the College. They had opportunities to fully immerse themselves in our Japanese classes. The exchange group shared an origami class with our Pre-Primary students, created a range of musical performances with our Year Six students, danced the “Matsuri Dance” with the Year Nines and had a conversation class followed by traditional Japanese games with the Year Ten students.  A big thank you to the Japanese Language Teachers, Mrs Aghdasi and Mrs Rowson for providing such enjoyable lessons. The Fujimi students loved meeting and interacting with our students.

Highlights during the school day included a Welcome to Country by Mr Neville Collard who regaled us with Aboriginal yarns, bush tucker and some Nyungar language. The group were then treated to boomerang making by Mr Robert Deurloo and dot-painting with Mrs Kiri Moore. Other classes included Outdoor Education with Mr Tremayne, Drama with Mrs Green and Art with Miss Hoy.  Thank you to these teachers for welcoming the exchange group into your classes.

A glimpse of our beautiful city and surrounds was organised by Ms Glen James.  Excursions included Kings Park, the City of Fremantle, Caversham Wildlife Park and the City of Perth. Despite all the rain and cold weather over the past two weeks, the group was lucky with a little ray of sunshine when needed. Their most memorable excursion was playing golf with the Year Tens in the Swan Valley.

Again in 2017, the most rewarding experience has been sharing time with host families. A big thank you for showing the exchange students around, cooking and sharing all those meals, watching TV together, going for a walk in the park, music lessons, ballet classes, taking them to the beach and all those club activities. Every one of us has learnt about a different culture and lifestyle.

The success of the 2107 Fujimi Exchange is the result of the whole College community. In particular, we would like to give our heartfelt thanks to staff from Maintenance, Canteen, IT Department, Sound and Lighting, Bus Drivers, Administration and Accounts.

The Fujimi Exchange will conclude on Saturday with a thank you party hosted by Fujimi. Come and enjoy the music and Japanese traditional dance and light refreshments.

We wish the 2017 Fujimi Group  a safe journey home to Tokyo and remember “Everywhere you go becomes part of you”.
