This year John XXIII College has six students exhibiting work at the Angelico Art Exhibition. Congratulations to Year 12 ATAR Visual Arts Students Jessica Low, Rachael Mitchell, Scarlett Townsend and Siobhan Waller, and Year 11 ATAR Visual Arts Students Mia Davis and Jasmine Koong on their entries.

Speak for Faith Competition

Three budding politicians Rory Hewson, Charlie Richards and Cullen Binet, spoke in the ‘Speak for Faith’ Competition at the Catholic Education Centre, Leederville last Tuesday 8 August. The students presented a five minute prepared speech and a two minute impromptu speech. Rory spoke compellingly about Australia’s inadequate structures to integrate refugees and how that contributes to negative perceptions of the asylum seeker crisis. Charlie joined in the current debate on same sex marriage, arguing whether the change in law would really make same sex couples happier in light of Natural Law. Cullen diagnosed the worrying signs of declining Mass attendance, calling for a frank conversation in the Church to stem the tide. Well done to our students for their enthusiasm and efforts and a thank you to the Catenians who sponsored the event.
