Clontarf Corner

EDUCATION

Year 12 members have been a focus at the back end of Term 3 and into Term 4.  Clontarf members have had their major camp which went for 7 days.  Their destination was Hastings Point on the far North NSW coast.  The major trip is to celebrate the completion of their schooling life at Lake Illawarra.  The young fellas had something to do almost every hour of every day.  Activities included surfing, cultural walks and a tour, cooking competitions, paintball and enjoying the surroundings of Byron Bay.

WELLBEING

A small group of Clontarf members earnt themselves a day out.  The aim of the day was to spend some time with a few of the young men that have had a few set backs throughout the term.  We spent a day out and about doing a values walk in Minimurra Rain Forest. They then made their own burgers for lunch and we finished in Wollongong with an hour at the SmashLab.  Along the way, the lads talked about what challenged them at school and looked at what they are willing to change for the better to finish the year off on a positive note.  The young men really enjoyed themselves and came together as small group.

SPORT

Clontarf morning training has been back for a few weeks now.  The young men are back into routine with pick ups starting from 6:00 a.m.  The friendly atmosphere at training led to plenty of laughs, plenty of running around and plenty of Clontarf spirit shown by all the lads.  The lads are fed with a healthy breakfast and then move into roll call in good spirits.  We thank the families and school for the support of these young men.  Keep working hard, lads, and the rewards will come to you, now that camps are back on.

LEADERSHIP

The top 10 Clontarf members from Years 7 – 10 who had above 95% attendance at school for the year were celebrated and treated to a dinner out at the local Warilla Bowls club restaurant.  The lads were celebrated for their attendance and commitment to school and for turning up in one of the most challenging years in history.  The young fellas were complimented for their behaviour whilst at dinner, which was also great.  Well done to this young group of men and their families for this achievement.
