Senior Executive

Principal's Message

As the HSC Class of 2019 gears up for their last few days of secondary education, I would like to take this opportunity to wish them the very best for not only their exams, but for their futures as a whole. Within this group of students are those who will go on to achieve great things in the worlds of academia, business, sport, cultural pursuits and as respected members of our community. To have shown the fortitude to have finished the HSC is to show the resilience that you will need in the greater world outside of school. I know many of you have faced great individual challenges and yet here you are graduates of the HSC. Well done to all of you and the very best for your exciting futures which lay ahead.

To the rest of the Lake Illawarra High community thank you for a wonderful term. We continue to forge ahead with our Project Based Learning as well as our work with our feeder primary schools in the Lake Learning Community. There are many exciting projects that we are undertaking over the next 12 months with our primary schools.

Have a safe and restful holiday.

Regards

Deputies' Desk

As we come to the end of Term 3 we can reflect on what a busy and productive term it has been for all students and staff. We would like to wish all of the Year 12 students the best for their upcoming HSC exams and encourage them to continue to attend classes until the end of term to ensure that they are as prepared as they could possibly be. It is also a very enjoyable time, parents and staff will be looking forward to celebrating many wonderful achievements at the Graduation ceremony and reflecting fondly on the student’s journey whilst at Lake Illawarra High School. It was wonderful to see so many parents, families and friends at our graduation ceremony, reinforcing the vast array of supports that are needed to support students through the HSC year.

The Senior Executive and Mrs Willingham, our fantastic Careers Adviser have been meeting with Year 10 to finalise their Senior Study options. The receptive nature of our students has been excellent with many open to exploring various paths to give themselves the best opportunity to achieve their post school goals. The final subject choices will be published early Term 4.

School uniform is very important as it allows students to present neatly and proudly as Lake Illawarra HS students. All students are expected to be dressed in correct uniform every day. Please be aware that jeans are not part of the Lake Illawarra High School uniform. If any student requires assistance with uniform purchases please speak to your Year Advisers or Deputy.

Once again we are at the end of a very busy term which feels like it only started yesterday. We would like to thank all the staff that continue to go above and beyond to support of students in both their learning and well being. The level of support and guidance our students receive continues to astound us and it is really holistic approach to students that make Lake High such a wonderful place to learn and work. We hope that all students and staff have a safe and relaxing break, coming back recharged for what will no doubt be a busy Term 4.
