St A's Sport Report

Sports Report

To finish off Term 1, we would like to recognise all of our sporting superstars at St A’s and highlight some of our amazing efforts to start the year.

In Week 8, we held our 2023 St Augustine’s Athletics Carnival and the buzz around the school was electric! With Nirnuk, Dorrong, Corinella and Murnalong all heavily represented around the school grounds, it was anyone's to win and the house colour spirit was alive.

To commence the day, the P-2s showed us how quick, athletic and nimble they were as they took on the hurdles, 70m and 200m events with ease. They showed us the tricks in the Egg & Spoon Race and Sack Races and left all smiles with some of Mr Louis’s best soundtracks blasting throughout the carnival. It was Dorrong out in front early!

Later in the day, we held our 3-6 carnival and it was a cracker! The speed and skills of all students were at a very high level and I would like to congratulate everyone for attending the day with such great positive attitudes. The day concluded with a dramatic teachers' sack race and a relaxing Walk-A-Thon, where students toured the Forest Run track to earn house points for their teams.

Congratulations to Murnalong for a great win on the day and thank you to all parents and helpers who were involved throughout the carnival!

To finalise our Athletics for Term 1, 60 of our 3-6 students attended the Bayside District Track Athletics Carnival for 2023. On a day forecasted for rain and wind, we lucked out with a beautiful day at Ballam Park Athletics Track.

Leaving school at 9am, we hopped on the bus with positive and supportive attitudes which translated onto the track from Race 1.

All students represented our school extremely well and the comments from parents and supervising staff were that St A’s were up and about! As a result, we were fortunate enough to claim the District Shield for the Carnival and many of our students have qualified for the Northern Peninsula Carnival later in the year. Congratulations to all parents, teachers and students involved!

Last but not least, in Week 10 our Teachers have some unfinished business with the Grade 6 students who were able to even the series late last year. In round 1 of the series, the students have challenged the teachers to a game of Basketball! Led by Mr Louis on offense and Mrs Mellor on defense, they sure have a formidable lineup. Check back here next Term to find out the results…

I would like to wish all St A’s superstars a lovely Term 1 Easter Break and look forward to seeing you all back in Term 2 for what is going to be an even busier Term of Sport for all of our students.
