Parents and Friends Association

PFA Meeting

PFA held its first meeting for Term 4 on Wednesday 7 October. The Zoom meeting was held in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and attended by approximately 25. It focused on important PFA projects such as the 2nd Hand Uniform Shop and sales later in the year, Entertainment Books and the Commemorative Brick program. The group was also pleased to continue to welcome new parents to the membership.

Mr Page also attended and gave those present a thorough report on the latest Government restrictions and requirements and their impact on Nossal as the school slowly returns to normal operation. He was also able to provide the latest information about the continuing difficulties the Select Entry Schools are facing in relation to the Entrance Exam program, which now looks likely to take place on 14 and 15 November at the Melbourne Showgrounds, as well as provide an update on the resumption of school and associated changes such as no longer being required to check temperatures and the lack of a canteen.

Parents welcomed the opportunity to be able to ask questions of Mr Page and have their questions answered fully.

PFA Cafe

The PFA Cafe was open again in the last week of Term 3 and there was lots of friendly chatter about past memorable holidays and plans or dreams for those to come once the travel restrictions are eased.

In the conversations we heard about what it's like being a part of the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona; getting up close to wild animals on an open vehicle safari in Tanzania; travelling to India and Sri Lanka to meet up with family and touring through Italy. Locally we heard about family holidays to Canberra, outback Australia and far north Queensland while still others talked about what they are looking forward to such as enjoying family caravan holidays around Australia.

The PFA Cafe opened at 7:30pm and the buzz between attendees was still strong when we closed the doors at 9:15pm. Once again, all who attended, (some for the first time), loved the opportunity to simply meet with others and chat socially.

The cafe will next be open at 7:30pm on Wednesday 21 October. Everyone is welcome and entry is via a Zoom invitation, so if you would like to attend and haven't done so until now, send your email address to Keith.Butler@nossalhs.vic.edu.au and we will send you an invitation. The theme for the night will be places to go and visit, within a relatively short distance or travel time, when the current restrictions are lifted. Drop by and share your secret place you enjoy visiting. We look forward to seeing you.

Next PFA Meeting

The next meeting of the Nossal PFA will be held via Zoom Wednesday 4 November (Melbourne Cup Week) commencing at 7:15pm. If you would like to attend this vibrant school community group, please send your email address to Keith Butler (Keith.Butler@nossalhs.vic.edu.au) and we will include you in the invitation list with a Zoom link.
