Australian Science Olympiads
Every year, the Australian Science Olympiads are administered by Australian Science Innovations.
Each year since 2012, Nossal High School has participated in the Biology, Chemistry and Physics Olympiads and, for the first time in 2020, we have also participated in the new Junior Science Olympiad.
The Olympiad consists of a 2-hour exam of an extremely high standard that includes university-level questions. It is a highly competitive, Australia-wide competition.
The top 2% of participants are invited to attend a Summer School which, in turn, enables the selection of 4-5 students who represent Australia at the International Science Olympiads in the following July.
Over the past few years, we have had a small number of very successful students attend the Biology Summer School. The Summer School participants for 2021 are yet to be selected.
This year, a total of 80 entrants from Nossal High School participated in the Olympiads. A record for the school.
The following students have been exceptionally successful:
High Distinction for the Junior Science Olympiad:
Rasna Preman
Sahana Rudresh
Sayam Mehta
Jazlyn Yap
Chandrima Mukherjee
High Distinction for the Biology Olympiad:
Jazlyn Yap
Disen Perera
Vaishvi Patel
Yash Patel
In addition, a special acknowledgement goes to Sayam Mehta who was also awarded a Distinction in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
A huge congratulations to all of the participants.
