Congratulations, Fishy Maths, Farewell and Coming in Term 3

Swimming Certificates

The children who attended swimming lessons were awarded with their certificates of achievement in the last week of term. All of them improved over the week and worked very hard with the swimming teachers at GSAC (Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre). Congratulations!

Fishy Maths

Ms Treasure looked after the school at the end of last term on a few days, while staff attended training and held parent interviews.

During that time, one of the lessons left by Mrs Emerton was a maths fishing activity. The children looked at weights and lengths in an activity that made learning about measurement practical and fun.

Ms Treasure sent this report:

On Friday, 18th June, Butterfly class went fishing - with magnets. They each had a 'bag limit' of 5 fish, all labelled with their measurements. Some were undersized and had to be thrown back. The total size of the catch was calculated and then different parameters given for another four days of fishing. After adding the five days of fishing catches the anglers then had to share their catch equally with their fellow fishers, dividing up the total. A good time was had by all, but alas! No fish for dinner!

Dental Visit Cancelled

Due to COVID restrictions, the Dental Visit has been cancelled. It will hopefully be rescheduled later as restrictions ease.

Farewell Jed and Brax

It’s always sad to say goodbye to friends, but that’s what we had to do on the last day of Term 2. Brax is moving to Queensland and Jed is off to Tasmania. We will miss these two entertaining personalities and wish them and their families all the best. (We’ll be here if you want to come back!)
