Swimming

Just a quick reminder that swimming starts on the first Monday of week one for Year three/four students, and the first Thursday for Foundation-Year Two.  It would be a great time during the holidays to take a trip to the YMCA or any other pool for a quick swim to get the students ready and excited for the term four program.

Basketball

It has been a big couple of weeks of Basketball for our senior students.  Firstly, our Year 5/6 girls have qualified for the next round of School Sport Victoria basketball championships by defeating St Patricks Primary in the final last week.  The girls will now progress onto the next round in Colac early term four.  Our boys acquitted themselves brilliantly by winning some early games before coming up against a strong St Columba’s side.  Thank you so much to Simone for skilfully coaching the girls’ side.

We also participated in the Ballarat Basketball Year five/six championships with great success.  Four teams played on the day.  Our girls won a very entertaining grand final and our boys’ team made the grand final narrowly losing to the same St Columba’s side that beat us in the divisional finals.  Well done to all students who came along on the day, it was a pleasure being involved in the day with you.  A big thank you again to Simone for coaching a side, and to Kylie Fawcett and Michael Searl for also assisting with the coaching on the day.

Last week we had the Ballarat Miners come out and conduct some basketball clinics with the year three/fours.  It was great to see our students being challenged and having fun with the drills, skills and activities the highly experienced coaches facilitated.

Soccer

We have also achieved great results recently in soccer.  Our victorious Ballarat City Soccer championship team were invited to attend a Division 1 VPL game and then play a grand final against St Columba’s with our team ending up triumphant winners.  Well done to all the students involved and thank you to the parents for taking the time to attend the game along with their children.

Camps in Term 4

We have three camps coming up in term four.  Our Year Six students will be travelling to the home of democracy in Australia, Canberra in week four.  Then some very lucky selected Year Five students will attending Somers camp for a nine day experience.  And finally our Year Three’s will attending Cave Hill Creek in the second last week of the school year.  A busy term indeed!

Enjoy the break and kind regards from Rick
