Australian National Piano Awards: On Friday 7th September the piano students attended part of the semi-final of this prestigious event. They watched one of the contestants perform a 45-minute recital, all from memory to the panel of judges and the audience. It was amazing to see the intensity of emotion and physical capabilities of the pianist.

Victorian Schools Music Festival, Bendigo: Towards the end of Term 3 the Alliance Band competed in this annual event in the Bendigo session. Schools bands around the state had been competing in various centres around the state throughout the term. The Alliance Band was the last band to perform in the entire competition, receiving a Gold Award for their efforts. Congratulations to the students, Mr. Sargant, Mr. Gallacher (SHS) and Mr. McMurray.

Shepparton Young Instrumentalists Award:

This annual event was held on Sunday 23rd September and once again, Wanganui students were prominent. Our students entered 9 different sections. All students were winners for getting up in front of an audience at Eastbank and performing. It takes courage and strength to do that. All students benefited from the experience, hearing others play, meeting other students who also play their instrument or other instruments, and receiving valuable feedback from the adjudicators. Some were lucky enough to receive a prize which included one or more of a certificate, money or a medal. Well done to all who competed.

11 pianists participated: Ryleigh Keele, Sophie Ahmet, Haydn Uniacke, Kady Paton, Jack Clark, Harry Brond, Kirill Talanovskey, Amie Forster, Kaitlyn Poole, Isabela Bace, Amelia Lucattini
