The Aviso
In the first issue of The Aviso for 2021, we bring you stunning photography and art that students have done over the past month. This issue also includes pieces of good news from around the world, to serve as a reminder that even when things get tough, there is still good in the world.
The Aviso team would like to thank everyone who has made a submission so far! We are so grateful for every submission we receive, and we look forward to receiving even more of them!

Spotlight: Good News!
Women in Estonia Lead the Way - Hannah Benhassine, Year 11
On January 26th, 2021, Estonia elected female Prime Minister Kaja Kallas. Kallas will now be working alongside female Estonian President, Kersti Kaljulaid making Estonia for the first time, a country led by two women. Both Kallas and Kaljulaid seek to create bold change, moving towards an increasingly diverse and inclusive government. Estonia now has a record high 46.7% of the cabinet being female. Prime Minister Kallas stated that “The idea behind the composition of [her] government was to strike a balance between men and women and between experience and novelty”.
Texas Restaurant Gives out 500 Meals to the Needy - Rania Widjanarko, Year 12
Over the past week, harsh weather conditions have plagued the people in Texas. The winter storms left many stranded in their homes in the freezing cold weather, but this didn't stop Ari and Blinera Isufaj from helping their community during a crisis.
The Isufajs' home was left without power as a result of the snowstorm. They came into their restaurant to warm up but were then struck with the idea to cook for everyone else going through a tough time. Both of them, along with 5 other staff members came into work and whipped up hundreds of meals. That day, More than 500 Texans came to their restaurant to get their first hot meal in days.

Humanities News
- The Humanities Captains will be holding a trivia about women in humanities for International Womens' Day! Date and time to be confirmed but keep an eye out in your emails!
- As of now, we do not yet have an official date for the first meeting of the 2021 Humanities Team. However, this will be announced shortly so get pumped!
