University of Melbourne Camp
Besides hearing Miss Palmer mention Frozen 2 every 5 seconds our University of Melbourne camp was a trip to remember. Combining with McGuire, Wanganui and Kyabram P-12 we participated in multiple activities which gave us an insight into the sporting programs on offer where we learnt how UOF makes balancing sports and school easy, how technology is incorporated into modern day science and that going into university doesn’t have to be a scary experience but one to look forward to. We got to explore the heart with virtual reality while also seeing a body sliced into pieces on their brand new electronic tables. We also competed in an amazing race competition where slow and steady should’ve won the race, sporting games and activities with commonwealth gold medallist Jemima Montag. Along with Jemima we had student hosts who toured around in our groups. It was great to hear their stories and have a bit of a laugh especially with Estela and Is host Shayan when we were completing our dentistry workshop using virtual reality to drill out teeth. Each student had their own dorm rooms at the St Marys residential college and we also dined at the communal dining hall like real cool kids. It was a great opportunity to explore the campus and meet new people who we will be involved with next year. A big thank you to the organisers at both school and the University of Melbourne. Last but not least thank you to Miss Palmer for dealing with us lovely beautiful angels!
