A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE

On Tuesday, I had a surprise visit from two dignitaries - long serving staff member Miss Carol Young with past Principal (1973-1977 and 1979-1984) Sr Mary McInerney RNDM. Sr McInerney was the last Sister who served as Principal at Sacred Heart before the reins were passed onto the first lay Principal, Mr Bernie Boss, in 1985. In recognition of her impact on our College, the former Margaret McInerney Gymnasium and current McInerney Learning Centre were named after her.

After a visit to Archives and lunch in The Hywood room (Staff Room), we undertook an impromptu tour of the new Technologies buildings in the north-east of the College. It was here that we bumped into Miss Jane Oliver who showed us some of Stella Woods' (Year 9 Carden) work in Metals and we took the opportunity to take a photo.

I loved that there was a bit of history taking place - we were showing one of our founding Principals the newest development at the College.

Sister's association with the College is detailed in our History Book, HeartSpace: The Story of Sacred Heart College from 1967-2019, written by Miss Carol Young. The book is full of photos and stories and is available on the Online Store for $35.
