ST JAMES MAJOR FUNDRAISER

St James parents and teachers were transported to the warmth of a Mexican Fiesta by an explosion of color and sultry Latino sound in the Brighton Town Hall on Saturday night. Surrounded by lemon-scented mojitos, colorful ponchos and stunning Day-of-the-Dead faces on fellow guests, over 130 fiesta-goers partied until the small hours.

Our soulful DJ /singer, Germán Silva, created a joyful vibe all night, by smoothly interchanging Latino favourites – “DES-PA-cito” - with requests from the millennial wait staff and seamlessly weaving in John Farnham, all without skipping a beat!

Silent auction action buzzed all evening. The live auction, hosted by the inimitable Chris Dodd, got passionate when a print of the Fiesta muse, Frida Kahlo, went under the hammer after a three-way tussle.

There was so much warmth and joy, so much color and light. The margaritas and laughter flowed. Teachers relaxed in their Mexican regalia. Bright new parents show us their groove thing, and parents with many fundraisers behind them, still had the dance moves going on. If only our kids could see how beautiful and happy we looked under those glowing lights! What a fiesta!

Our secondhand uniform shop requires coat hangers and stands. Please donate your excess hangers and stand (if possible) to the school office, or contact Danielle Rohan on 0418 998940
